WUSR is the radio voice of The University of Scranton in Scranton, PA. The station is made up of students, faculty, staff and supporters. WUSR provides the community with an alternative source for entertainment, as well as enhances the growth of our student's radio knowledge.
WUSR is a 300-watt radio station that broadcasts from the campus of the University of Scranton. Our signal covers 700 square miles of Northeastern Pennsylvania, encompassing Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and parts of Binghamton, NY. The station is owned in full by the Board of Trustees of the University of Scranton.
WUSR takes pride in being a top-notch college radio station with a frequency that is located in the middle of many well known commercial stations. Whereas most college stations are found below 91 MHz on the FM dial, WUSR broadcasts at an amazing 99.5 MHz. We take a great amount of pride in being a station that broadcasts "alternative" programming directly in between the big Top 40 stations.
In addition to being in the commercial band, WUSR is completely student-run. We have a dedicated staff of students who belong to the managerial team at the station. It is their job to make sure that WUSR remains a college radio leader in Northeastern, PA. But WUSR would not be complete without its staff of dedicated DJs. Our DJ staff is composed of almost 85% students and 13% faculty members. It is this combination that gives WUSR its unique sound that makes us the voice of the University of Scranton.
Music Selection:
WUSR plays many musical formats. The great variety enables the station to reach a wider listening audience as well as help expand our on-air staff's musical horizons. We also produce and broadcast University basketball games, lecture series, religious programs, and other live performances. WUSR also provides the very best in music programming. We have a great variety of musical styles that is virtually unmatched by commercial stations. We encompass everything from Jazz to Blues, from the Classics to the Polka, from Classic Rock and Ska, to Punk and Hardcore, to RPM and Urban.
